Mark Dowley is an entrepreneur and veteran marketer currently the Chief Business Officer at MacAndrews & Forbes, LLC, a multibillion-dollar corporate enterprise wholly owned by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Ronald O. Perelman, with diverse holdings from cosmetics and entertainment to biotechnology and military equipment. MacAndrews & Forbes, invests in companies with strong market positions, recognized brands and growth potential. Dowley advises the company on new acquisitions as well as strategic opportunities to build existing businesses.
Dowley is also Chairman of DDCD & Partners, a strategic marketing consultancy firm and founding partner of Imagine Communication Arts Content Production with Ron Howard and Brian Grazer.
Dowley is best recognized for creating the concept of Artists in Residence used to build ecosystems that amplify marketing strategy and communication, while driving business value. These unique partnerships utilize talent in mutually beneficial ways increasing relevance, driving awareness and elevating brands. The most well known case study is his work co-founding PRODUCT (RED), a global marketing initiative with American Express, Giorgio Armani, Motorola, Nike, and Apple to combat AIDS in Africa, with partners Bono, Bobby Shriver and John Hayes.
As a former partner at William Morris Endeavor he was responsible for guiding the agency’s marketing efforts and creating new business opportunities for clients. Prior to that he was the chairman and chief executive officer of IPSEG, a division of The Interpublic Group of companies and vice chairman of McCann-Erickson WorldGroup, where he was the youngest member ever to join McCann’s board of directors. Earlier in his career, Dowley ran Momentum Worldwide, the event and experiential marketing unit of McCann-Erickson that was named the top event marketing and sales promotion company in the world by Advertising Age.
Dowley’s work and his proficiency for developing partnerships have been recognized by several industry publications and numerous accolades. He has appeared on Crain’s New York Business’ prestigious “Forty Under 40” list and was a three-time inductee to the same list in Sports Business Journal. Currently, Dowley is a member of the board of trustees of the United States Ski and Snowboard Association and sits on the board of directors of AllClear Holdings, a biometrics company, the Child Mind Institute. He is a graduate of The College of Wooster, of which he is also a trustee.
