Chris Weil, global chairman and CEO of Momentum Worldwide, has been a leader with the company for over ten years. Throughout his tenure, Weil has lead the company to double-digit growth year-over-year and has shaped the global agency into a powerhouse of the marketing industry with offices in 52 countries.
Momentum has been widely recognized as Agency of the Year in countries around the globe for its ideas and executions of campaigns that truly break through and move their client’s business forward. Ever the visionary, Weil has embraced the emergence of the digital world and its impact on his clients’ thinking and the consumer experience. In 2007, Weil introduced the concept of “Phygitaltm” – a vision he essentially describes as the seamless interplay of experiences in both the physical space and the digital space. He believes that understanding their inevitable convergence is what makes his agency well poised to continue to lead the industry in the development of the next-level of breakthrough ideas and communications that connect the client’s brand with the consumer.
Weil served as president of Momentum New York from 1998 to 2001, where he lead the American Express global account team, creating new entertainment, sports and experiential marketing programs for the American Express brand around the globe. In January 2001, he was appointed regional director for Momentum Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and relocated to London. As the leader of EMEA, he vastly improved the success of Momentum’s 33-office European network and spearheaded the aggressive growth of pan-regional clients including Nestlé, Coca-Cola and American Express. In 2003, Weil returned to the United States and took the post of Chairman & CEO of Momentum Worldwide, as well as earned a seat on the McCann Worldgroup Board of Directors. He is also on the board of the American Association of Advertising Agencies.
Weil started his career in the live events and television production business producing and creating programs with many of America’s top properties including the NFL, PGA, NBA and The America’s Cup. He holds a degree in economics from Westminster College and resides in New York City with his wife and two daughters. An avid golfer, Weil is also an active member of the Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, NY.
